DreamGirls Challenge #22

I just love the Dreamgirls Blog!!! They have such awesome challenges. For this challenge, you had to use at least 80% American Crafts products and the layout must contain a heart and some type of flourish. On this layout, the foam snowflakes, thicker's alphas, ribbon, and patterned paper are all American Crafts. I wanted to journal about the home rather than the snow. I thought the rub-on frame looked similar to a snowflake so I framed the home to emphasize it. I love scrappin' these older pictures. The children are so young and it reminds you of how far you have come in your life. As usual, click on the title to this post to check out the challenge. You'll love Dreamgirls!! I know I do ;)

Happy Friday!
Nik

We Love Our Members Contest Week 3

Treasured Scrapbooking is now into Week 3 of the We Love Our Members Contest and this is my submission for this week's challenge. The challenge was to use the lyrics and music to DT Amanda's favorite song of all time- Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller- for inspiration!! We also had to use something from our stash that was at least six months old. All patterned paper used for this layout was from a paper pack I've had well over six months. Click on the title to this post to check out this fun contest.

Thanks for stopping by,
Nik

Gutter Girlz Prompt 17

I woke up from dreaming about this challenge. I read about it on their blog earlier this morning before going to bed (I have to work tonight) and I guess it stuck in my head. I wanted to add some more texture like some funky, ball ribbon or some chipboard corners on the picture but my daughter in the picture didn't want me to add anything else to it. So, there you have it ;)

We Love Our Members Contest

Treasured Scrapbooking is hosting a very fun contest called "We Love our Members" and I just finished my second week layout submission. This was my first week submission: Life is Like A Box of Chocolates. Here were the challenge requirements for Week One:
1. You must use only the colors pink, red, brown, and white/cream for your layout.
2. You must have one pair of wings on your layout.
3. You must have three hearts on your layout.

4. You must have one bow on your layout.
5. You must use "Life is Like a Box of Chocolates..." as the title of your layout.

I spent a little bit of time on the cut-work but I really like how it turned out. Wasn't sure where to put the bow so I just tied it to the left branch and thought that worked. Products used for the Week One submission were: Bazzil cardstock,
Basic Grey Blush, My Mind's Eye Magnolia pack (hot pink), Anna Griffin (light pink flourish), Making Memories Sabrina Transparency Sheet, Cloud 9 Design chipboard circle, Fancy Pants Fun & Free wing stamp, American Crafts Jewelry Box Thickers, Colorbok Ink, Signo white pen, Royal Brush glitter rub-ons, ribbon and stitching.

My Week Two Submission's theme had to be on what type of girl I am based on Teleflora's Categories. The layout requirements were:
1. Use one of the categories from the teleflora website as the title of your layout.
2. Use only one photo.
3. The photo you use must have you in it (there can be other people, as long as we can see you).
4. Use at least 10 flowers.
5. You must include journaling as to why you are this type of girl.
6. Your journaling must be on a journaling card or tag of some sort

Here is the link to the Teleflora's site with the categories:

Products used for this layout were: Bazzil Cardstock, Basic Grey Scarlett Letter, Die Cuts With A View scallop cardstock, Memory Maker's journal box, bird, flowers and brads, Paper Studio lace, additional flowers from Walmart and Michael's, Goose Biots feathers by Crafts Etc., gold mesh, and pens from Zig & Signo.

Happy Scrappin!
Nik

****Oh yeah, I may have some very exciting news to share*********

working with Transparencies:

Dreamgirls latest Challenge #21 Clearly Yours challenges you to make a project on a transparent background. The prompt was to use the words You, You're, Your, etc. in the title and you must have some type of journaling on the photo. Here is what I came up with. I tried to take a picture of this outside so that the layout was transparent but the white cardstock behind it looked much better. The title, "Your snapshots OF LOVE" is hard to see from the picture so I'm sorry about that. Click on the title of this post to check out Dreamgirls latest challenge and hop on in on the fun. Their prize packages are awesome and their talented DT members are always inspiring. I just love that site!

Layouts From the Crop:

The YMBD Winter Online Crop was a huge success!! Here are a few layouts I made during the crop:

"LOVE"

"6 IN BLOOM"

"FORKS"

"Letter to Suegra"

"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"

"Best Friends are Angels"

"Valentine Wish List"

"faith in all things SPARKLY"

"Dady"

Here are a few cards that I made during the crop:

I completed 18 layouts (two of which were double pagers), 6 cards, and one mini-album in just 3 days!!! I was so proud of myself in getting so much accomplished in such a short time. It's very hard to put a lot of detail in each page when you're rushed. I have submitted some of these layouts to some February Challenges on Tresured Scrapbooks.com and on SB.com. I had a ball!!!
