My Tribute to:

Gutter Girlz. Yes ladies, these are my humps.lol. This is my Gutter Girlz challenge layout for their new Prompt. When this picture was developed, I thought I would never scrap it but as soon as I read the challenge, I knew it was time to put this picture to paper. My youngest daughter (who loves to take pictures just like her mom) took this picture during my 5 year old's birthday cake cutting. I was laughing my head off when I saw it but decided to keep it since it was her shot. Glad I did. Made for a funny layout, don't you think? That's what I love about the Gutter. Their prompts make you think outside the box and have you scrapping themes/styles/products that you would never normally scrap. They have started a new forum and their DT members are always inspiring with their challenge examples. If you like getting a little dirty with your art, please jump on in "da gutter" and see just what I'm talking about. A little dirt never hurt ;)

This layout was made as a tribute to the YMBD forum that I visit frequently. I think I will make one for all the sites that I am a member of. Anyhooooo (pun intended--their mascot is an owl), Catherine is the owner and creator of YMBD and a very talented scrapper. She is so friendly and makes every member feel like a welcomed part of the family. The DT is so creative and put Catherine's creations to good use. My former favorite YMBD product was their calender tags. I used one as a flower center in my "together forever" layout that I posted a good while back. My new favorite product is their flourishes!! Great for cards or layouts. I've got some ordered and waiting for my order to arrive. Should be any day now:) Woot! Woot! Several of us at YMBD are inspiring each other to eat healthier and loose a few pounds. I feel honored to be among this group of women and hope that you will stop over and see just what I'm talking about. You'll love it!

Took Me Four Hours:

Just to make this:
It is my May GDT
submission at TS.
Some of the
require-
ments
were to use
either feathers,
fur or tulle,
and you also
needed 20 or
more flowers, the colors silver, brown and green, and your layout also had to have polka dots. I'm a slow scrapper to begin with but this doesn't look like it would take me that long to make it. "Pucker Up" is very similar to my "I'm the IT girl" layout in that it also had loads of flowers and I used feathers on that layout too. The main reason I did the challenge was because of the feather requirement. I LOVE adding feathers on layouts. Gives it such a funky, wild look.

"Turkey Day 2008" was a lift of YMBD Julie's "the places U'll go" layout and the last layout was using PageMap sketches and are for my Thanks-
giving album.

Happy Weekend Scrappers!

There were several Online Crops going on last weekend and because I'm so crazy and out there, I decided I would play in all of them! Your Memories By Design hosted a Members Take Over Crop. Sassy Scrappers hosted a Deja Vu Crop. Transparent Touches & Tags hosted a March Madness Crop. And lastly, Scrap My Memories hosted a Mother Goose Online Crop. I made about 14 or so layouts for the challenges of the crops. Here are a few to share. Layout #1 "Q & A" was inspired from a PageMaps sketch. Layout #2 "no bubbles required" was inspired from a Making Memories ad in one of the scrapbooking mags. Layout #3 "Look hoo's 1" was inspired by Chrissy Greenman's "Look Whose 3" layout. Layout #4 "Goodnight Gabriel" was a close lift of Kim Morgan's "Oh So Thirteen" layout. Layout #5 "folly beach" as well as Layout #6 "just chillin' " were my own designs and "just chillin' " was made completely from scraps. The last Layout #7 "Small TOWN" was from a sketch by Angelbear on SMM.

I love playing in Online Crops because I'm so rushed and my adrenaline is pumped and I can get so much accomplished in such a short time. Unfortunately, a lot of time was consumed at the computer trying to upload the pics to all the galleries on the sites and keeping up with points and tallies, etc. was also time consuming but it's so worth it. I won several prizes, enjoyed every minute of it and have loads of new layouts for my albums. Doesn't get much better than that ;)

Happy Thursday!

I'm surrounded by MESS....

Ok, last Thursday night my hubby and I decided to rearrange my scrapden and move things around a bit so that I would have more room. We also took the computer desk out of our master bedroom and put it in the den as well.

Now, I have a huge mess strung from one end of the room to the other! I've already cleaned in here for two days but I still feel like I haven't gotten anywhere. My table is stuffed full of random things. Couch and loveseat are loaded with florals and junk. There's no way I can scrap with all this clutter surrounding me.

I've got to drop off my car to the mechanic and then I'm gonna try to tackle it some more. I'm too ashamed to take pics or I'd show you exactly what I'm dealing with here...lol.

Calgone! Take me away!

New Layouts

"My Kristin" was made for an example of March Let's Scrap Challenge as well as Week One of the Make The Most of Your Scraps Challenge on 2 Scrappy Chix Designs. I used March 2009 PageMaps for the design and I have to say, I like how this one turned out. These were pics from our Twilight Premiere Party but I wanted to scrap them with a theme of my relationship with my niece verses about the movie. Besides, I've scrapped so many with the movie as the theme since I have an entire Twilight album devoted to my Cullen addiction. Anyhoo, I used my new Black Magic cardstock that I won from the Crop Your heart Out Online Crop at 2ScrappyChix.
I just finished making {8}. I have only two pictures of my 15yo's 8th birthday and one of them is not even worth scrapping. This picture also was bad because of the dark, black area that developed on the left side. I tried to cover it up the best I could with the florals and 3-D stickers. I didn't want to crop the picture since I was only making a single photo layout. I designed the patterned paper to be a birthday cake and topped it with eight small candle punches. I wanted more dimension so I folded the corner and another spot and stapled. I added the stitching line in the torn areas to tie back in with the stitched ribbon on the center of the cake ;) I'm sure I'll find a challenge or two to submit this in.

I also have a small Toot. My "Heavenly Breeze" layout was chosen as the Layout Of The Week on Treasured Scrapbooking and is displayed on their home page. If you click on the title to this post, you will see it featured.

Hope you are having a wonderful week! Tomorrow is Friday so TGIF!!

Layouts From the DP Crop:

I'm not really happy with a lot of the layouts I made during the crop. I think I lost my mojo somewhere this weekend :( Most of the time, I can get so creative when in a rush and hurried but this weekend, I just couldn't seem to get it together. Nothing special or exciting about this layout of my daughter from her prom in 2007. I should have added more ribbon and maybe a touch of journaling but like I said, I wasn't really into this layout.

I do like this one of my sweet Mother-In-Law. I used one of her doily flowers as an embellishment and then added the lace to die in with it. The design is a sketch from ScrappyDonna at Dixie Pieces. Thanks Donna! The flourishes are a combination of cricut cuts and hand doodling. I used paint instead of ink for the distressing and lots of stitching to give it a "Grandma" feel. I couldn't even remember the name of the baby (my sister-in-law has six girls, by the way) but that's ok. This is going in her album. I miss her so much :(

This is almost a direct lift of Tracey Odachowski's Daydreaming layout. I loved the design and had to give it a lift. I used rub-ons and fancy-cut them out for the side embellishements and added some hand-drawn flourishes. The teal-looking paint is actually not paint at all. I won a pack of Black Magic cardstock by Cordinations from 2 Scrappy Chix Design's Crop Your Heart Out Online Crop and just sanded a piece of black/teal cardstock. I love how it looks like lightly painted paper.

This one is a lift of "long story short" by Elizabeth Dillow. I love the clean lines and simple design of her layout and thought it would work with a couple of pics from my stay at the Police Academy. As you can see, my poor sewing machine sure does get a work out. I can't seem to make a layout that doesn't have some sort of stitching...lol. Click on the title of this post if you want to check out Dixie Pieces. Their Online Crops are fantastic and all of the ladies are so talented and friendly. You'll love it there!
