Once Upon A Sketch Case File No. 38

Today I am sharing my submission for Case File No. 38 at Once Upon A Sketch. Here is a picture of the Case File:
For this challenge, you must use : *the SKETCH provided * all the colours in the SCHEME * at least 2 elements from the EVIDENCE * at least 1 element from the TESTIMONY! And here is my layout for this challenge:
I stuck to the sketch with little alteration. I used three items of the Evidence portion: a bird, flowers, and newsprint pattern on the leaves. My one element used from the Testimony portion was the title and word lyrics from Lionel Richie's song, "Easy." I am going to try and create a layout for Case File No. 39 tonight as well ;) Thanks for stopping by!!

Skissedilla Sketch #177

Back again with a complimentary page to the "Breathtaking" layout I made earlier. "LUCKY" is my submission to Skissellia's Sketch #177. Here is their sketch:
And here is my LUCKY layout:
Journal tag reads: We were lucky meeting Abby Talor on this day. It was her very first pageant too. You won Grand Supreme and Abby won Mini Supreme and you have been pageants sisters ever since. Thanks for stopping by!!! Happy Scrappy Thursday :)

Scrap Friends Colour Palette Challenge #5 & ScrapFit Workout #75

Just finished up "I AM Breathtaking" for two blog challenges. First, for Scrapfriends, their Colour Palette Challenge was Yummy indeed:
and for Scrap Fit, Trendy Twine was their theme for Workout #75. Here is my creation for both of those challenges:
Journaling is very light (sorry) but reads: Breathtaking Beauties was your very first pageant EVER! It was a full glitz pageant and you were so excited. You won and caught the Bug! I should have printed journaling strips to keep the layout more neat but I do love to hand write on my pages so my children will see my script and so that the layout is more personable and apart of me. Maybe I should have handwritten journaling strips...lol. There will be another page to compliment this page and it will contain more journaling about the pageant system and how she befriended another little girl who was competing in her very first pageant as well. I really love all the dimension this layout has. I popped the green Princess tag and the cropped picture of her when they called her name out as the winner (LOOOVE that pic!!!) The layered tags, twine, flowers and butterfly also give it more dimension. I also broke out my rub-ons for this one. Luv me some rub-ons ;) Thanks for stoppin' by and Happy Thursday!

Scrapfriends Sketch Challenge #5

Back with my submission to Scrap Friends Sketch Challenge #5 Submission. Here is the sketch:
And here is my take:
Sorry for the shadow of myself in the pic and the bad crop job..lol. I wanted to make a compliment page to the 2011 PROOFS page that I made yesterday. This sketch is so different than my style of scrapping so I enjoyed stepping out of the box on this one. No journaling for this one. Felt it looked full as is. I think I would have liked this layout more if I would have chosen different papers but it looks good in the album beside the other layout so I'm not going to complain ;) Happy Scrappy Hump Day!!!

F-Sketchy 26 Submission

Here we go with yet another blog submission ;) Feeling Sketchy offered a simply terrific sketch that left so much to your imagination. Here is the sketch:
And here is my take:
Requirements were that the project must contain stamping and that you submit it to at least two other Challenges elsewhere. Therefore, I am also submitting this layout to Scrapbook.com's Stitching Challenge , Scrapbook.com's Stamping Challenge , and Scrapbook.com's Multipic Challenge . I misted and distressed the neutral background cardstock then stitched and stamped it using a wine glass, embellishment container, and lid from a paper piercer. More distressing and stitching on the patterned papers and I painted and embossed the chipboard stars for added texture. The circle journaling tag reads: I am a creative soul. Why order the pics when you can scrap the proofs. Thanks for stopping by and as always, your comments are appreciated ;)

Let's Get Sketchy Challenge #30

While surfing last night for more scrapping blogs, I came across Let's Get Sketchy. Loved their Challenge #30 Sketch for the final week of September so got busy on it right away. I won't be eligible to be entered in their give-away since I did not complete two of the four weeks that they offer sketches, but I still wanted to share my layout with them and you. ;)
Here is the Challenge #30 Sketch
And here is my take on this great sketch. Since the photos are so small but are full of people and action, I decided to skip out on journaling and only add the event and date to the small ticket journaling tag. I wanted dimension but wasn't sure what I had that would work well with the dancing and party theme that also stayed with my color scheme that I chose so I opted with white and red buttons and only added yarn to a touch more color. I'm pretty pleased with the final result since I wasn't expecting a great layout with these small pictures that weren't great photos to begin with (...the main reason I had them printed so small...). Question: Do you find yourself making "so-so" layouts with not so great pictures?? I do! I tend to really give it my all on a layout that I am using an awesome picture on. Just curious if it's just me ;) As always, thanks for stopping by and comments/suggestions are always appreciated :)

Stuck Sketches Submission

Two new layouts to share. First is my favorite of the two. "diva" is my submission to the Stuck Sketches Sept. 15th Challenge. Here is the sketch:
And here is my submission, "diva"
Journaling reads: Hard to believe that just a little over a year ago you were a shy and timid little girl who would not speak to anyone you did not know well. Now look at my little Diva! Outspoken, making new friends, and a perfect example of your new title. 09-11-2011. I'm really pleased with it because it contains all of my typical fav's like bling, stitching, pearls, flowers, etc. I've got a feeling I will be using lots of "girly" embellies for her pageant pages ;) My next layout was made using the same sketch.
"sexto grado" (6th grade) is a layout of Husband when he graduated the 6th grade in Mexico. After making the layout, he shares with me the story of the picture and it would have made the perfect journaling for the layout so I may have to add it later. He was the student chosen to paint the mural on the school wall that he was standing in front of. He had drawn some cartoon characters of some teachers that displayed his talent but the humor was not shared by the principal. He received a week suspension for his stunt but also was chosen to paint the mural since he was the most talented of the students at the school...lol. Hop on over to Stuck Sketches and get your submission in before Sept. 30th. Happy Monday & Happy Scrappin' :)

Sketchabilities Submission

Here is my submission for Sketchabilities #75 Sketch Challenge.
I loved this sketch!!!! It was perfect to crop my photos for this layout. Since returning to scrapping, I am finding that sketches are very helpful in getting me back into the swing of things. This was such a special day for us so I am making several pages of the event but this will be the first (cover) page. Thanks for stopping by ;)

My Creative Sketches Submission

Just finished "stay", my submission for the My Creative Sketches September sketch. Journal tag reads: If I had one wish it would be for you to stay little forever...my {heart}...my little girl. Circle September tag has "11" circled.
Wish me luck in the contest!! Every single submission is fabulous!!! Win or lose, I'm already a winner because I loved the sketch and my creation ;)

I'm Baaaaaack!

It has been more than a year since I have scrapped and I am missing it terribly. It's time to dive back in and start catching up. I have visited my faithful Scrapbook.com site and have uploaded my latest creations and entered a couple of them in their Challenges. I have also joined the Let's Scrap community and entered a couple of their Design Team Challenges as well. Here are two layouts I created for Let's Scrap Sketch Challenges:
I used Sketch 09-12-12 to create this two-pager. Requirements were that it had to contain a picture of me along with a friend or family member, AND it had to contain a quote. Here is my take. I'm sorry for the quality of this picture. I took it with my son's Ipad and the lighting is bad. I went with my ol' faithfuls: stitching, ribbon, and flowers. I chose a two-page sketch since I have so many pictures from this competition and need to get them all scrapped. I'm not thrilled with it but it's a start and I think it will take me a little time to find my groove again.
I like "Live by example" a little better. More stitching, of course, but I used a Nikki Sivils blue envelope that contained tags as a mat instead of tossing it. I love how it curved the side of the picture to compliment the large circle patterned paper that I used. I chose paper/silk flowers, epoxy flowers, buttons, and sticker embellies and I've added the date in the NS journal tag before I put it in the album. This picture was taken the day before Mother's Day. My youngest daughter and her Forestry pageant sister, Abbie, gave out Mother's Day corsages to the residents at White Oak Manor assisted living home in York, SC. I have more pictures from this event and will add more journaling on the upcoming layouts I make with these pictures.
"So proud of you" is my favorite so far. I used machine stitching and hand stitching, stickers, buttons, ribbon, staples, paper flowers, felt banner, and paint. I really like how it turned out ;) Today, I am heading over to a dear, sweet scrappin' friend's blog, Delaina Farr Burns Embellished Memories. She has shared the latest sketch from My Creative Sketches and I am going to try and create a page using it. Check out her take!!! It is FABULOUS!!! Hope I can do it justice. Thanks for all the luv and advice, Delaina, and helping me get my fingers sticky again ;) Be back later this evening with my take ;)
